Usually, when you type a link [to another page on the internet] starting with 'http://' or 'www.', the forum software will recognise this as a link to another page on the internet and will automatically make it a link which can be clicked on.
You can ensure that the forum software treats what you type, within posts or PMs, as a link by using the URL button:
You may notice that sometimes posts will have a section of text which says "click here" and you can quite literally click on that text.........here's how it's done, using the as a basis:
It is also possible to use images as links (Click here to see our tutorial on using images).
Link not working?
Quite often a link will fail to work because the URL part (www. or http://) is too long. To remedy this, we recommend the use of tinyurl.com
Other reasons may be that your URL isn't formatted correctly (ie, you may have used a comma instead of a dot), or perhaps the website or page no longer exists on the internet.
If you are unable to get a link working, please seek the advice of a forum staff member and we'll see if we can help.
You can ensure that the forum software treats what you type, within posts or PMs, as a link by using the URL button:
- This button gives you the code .
- You then simply place your link between the two blocks: www.harrowchessclub.org.uk
- This will then give you the link as shown: www.harrowchessclub.org.uk.
You may notice that sometimes posts will have a section of text which says "click here" and you can quite literally click on that text.........here's how it's done, using the as a basis:
- Get the basic blocks in your post
- You should add an '=' within the first block:
- Now put your link within the first block:
- You should now have:
- The final part is the text you want members to click on; this goes between the two blocks: Click here to visit Harrow Chess Club
- If you've done it right, you'll get: Click here to visit Harrow Chess Club
It is also possible to use images as links (Click here to see our tutorial on using images).
