In any screen, look for the text in the top right hand corner which will say something along the lines of: Hey, yourusername, you have x messages, x are new. Clicking on the x messages part will take you to your PM (Private Message) inbox. To read a message that's been sent to you, click on the subject. Other options available: - Click on 'new message' to create a new PM; the screen is the same as when creating a post on the forum (click here to see our tutorial on creating a post).
- The next option along is 'delete all' - be careful with this one!
- Moving along, we have 'mark as read'
- Next is 'outbox' - the area where you can see the messages you've sent. The outbox will also show you whether a message you've sent has been read, by indicating a sealed or open envelope symbol.
- The next option gives you the opportunity to 'back up' all your PM's.
- Lastly is your 'preferences' option - we recommend that all members go to their PM preference area and change the option 'Would you like an alert box to notify you when a new Personal Message has arrived?' to yes........that way you won't miss important PM's that are sent out from the forum staff from time to time.
