Good team performance after last season’s debacle, when Wimbledon overcame 20+ grading point deficit on every board to claim victory.

Tough top board for Peter making debut, eventually succumbing to IM opponent in an unclear game. First down to bar was Colin after his opponent embarked on an early do or die attack – quickly proving latter. David extended current run of fine form with another smooth win.

Elsewhere, Dom won a wild game employing 5-pint variation of his favoured Guinness attack, while Owen’s hippo looked dead in the water from start, until his opponent inexplicably jumped in during quickplay finish. Wimbledon captain stepped in as sub on b8 and soon got himself in a fatal flap against George’s wing gambit. In a beer fuelled encounter on b11, Doug matched his opponent pint for pint before finding a surprise queen sac – surprised Doug too.
